Privacy policy

• Booking details: name, email, phone or WhatsApp number, country, language, number of guests, tour date, and any note or special requirement you write (which may include health or accessibility information you choose to share).
• Payment records: order number, amount, currency, payment status and PayPal transaction identifiers. We never see or store your full card number — PayPal handles the card data.
• Account details if you sign in: your email and, with Google sign-in, your name and profile email from Google.
• Site usage: pages viewed, referral source, and a partner referral code if you arrived through a partner link or QR code.
• Correspondence: emails and messages you send us, and reviews you submit.

• To perform your booking contract: confirming the tour, sending vouchers and receipts, assigning a guide, running the tour, and processing cancellations and refunds.
• To meet legal obligations: keeping transaction and tax records required under Korean law.
• For our legitimate interests: fraud prevention, service quality, guide scheduling, partner commission accounting, and improving the site.
• With your consent: marketing emails and the publication of a review. You can withdraw consent at any time.

• PayPal — payment processing and refunds.
• Our hosting and database provider — storage of booking records.
• Our transactional email provider — confirmations, cancellations and receipts.
• Your assigned guide — only the tour date, time, guest count and any special requirement relevant to running the tour. Guest phone numbers, emails, payment details and full names are not sent to guides' messaging apps.
• Google Calendar — the departure time and tour name for guide scheduling.
• Partners — never your personal data. A partner sees only the number of guests and commission attributed to their code.
• Authorities — where required by law.

We do not sell your personal data, and we never have.

Some of these providers operate outside Korea. Where data moves abroad we rely on the provider's standard contractual protections and transfer only what the service needs.

• Booking and payment records: 5 years from the transaction, as required of e-commerce operators under Korean law.
• Account data: until you delete your account, then removed within 30 days apart from records we must keep.
• Marketing consent records: until you unsubscribe, plus a short suppression record so we do not email you again.
• Site usage logs: up to 12 months.

You may ask us to show you the data we hold, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to its use, or send it to you in a portable form, and you may withdraw consent or unsubscribe at any time. Write to hi@seoulgenius.com and we will answer within 30 days. If you are not satisfied you may complain to the Korea Internet & Security Agency Privacy Center (privacy.kisa.or.kr, 118), or to your local data protection authority.

We use only what the site needs to work: your sign-in session, your saved tours, and a partner referral code stored for attribution. We do not run advertising trackers. Clearing your browser storage removes them.

Data is transmitted over encrypted connections and stored with row-level access rules, so each customer, guide and partner can reach only their own records. Access by staff is limited to those who need it. If a breach affects you, we notify you and the authorities as required by law.

The site is not intended for children under 14, and we do not knowingly collect their data except as part of a family booking made by an adult.
